Materials Coordinator
The Materials Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the movement, storage, and distribution of materials to support manufacturing, service, and shipping operations in the company. This role manages inventory transactions, material staging, receiving, and shipping support while working closely with Production, Purchasing, Warehouse, and Logistics teams to maintain material availability, inventory accuracy, and on-time deliveries.
Job Details & Requirements
· Coordinate the flow of materials between receiving, warehouse, production, and shipping areas
· Stage materials, kits, and components for production and service activities
· Maintain inventory accuracy through cycle counts, ERP transactions, and stock audits
· Receive, inspect, label, and organize incoming materials and parts
· Support shipping activities including packaging, documentation, freight coordination, and shipment scheduling
· Prepare packing slips, bills of lading, shipping labels, and export documentation as required
· Coordinate domestic and international shipments with carriers, vendors, and customers
· Monitor inventory levels and communicate shortages or discrepancies to Purchasing and Production
· Maintain material traceability and proper documentation in accordance with company procedures
· Assist with warehouse organization, material handling, and continuous improvement initiatives
· Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment as needed
· Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and shipping regulations
Education, Experience & Skills
· High school diploma or GED; Higher degree from technical school is a plus.
· Entry level to 5 Years’ work experience in manufacturing.
· Experience with inventory control, warehouse operations, or material coordination
· Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and shipping software
· Knowledge of shipping procedures, freight carriers, and logistics coordination
· Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
· Ability to read packing lists, work orders, and inventory documentation
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Outlook
· Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification preferred
Physical Demands & Work Environment
Employees must be able to communicate effectively, operate tools and equipment, and safely perform physical tasks in an active industrial environment. Essential functions include standing, walking, sitting, reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, and occasionally crawling, as well as safely lifting and/or moving up to 50 lbs. Vision requirements include close and distance vision, color and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. All employees are expected to support plant operations as needed while following all safety policies and procedures. Typical manufacturing environment with noise levels ranging from quiet to moderate depending on work activities.
