Chapter 2
Ceramic Setter Design & Sintering Predictability  

The two most common challenges in sintering are setter design and sintering predictability. Due to the nature of the process, 3D printed green parts on the S100 Metal binder jetting system are susceptible to shrinkage, anywhere from 15-20%. While this is common for all metal forming & sinter processes, it’s still a challenging concept to design and predict. In Chapter 2, DSH Technologies will explore the basics of ceramic and live setter design and provide sintering examples to help with predictability and performance. By understanding and controlling temperature uniformity, DSH is able to successfully support the design, sinter, and finish of components.

When it comes to sintering stainless steel, DSH Technologies has vast experience and shares that expertise in Chapter 3 of the sintering webinar series. This includes density requirements, atmosphere considerations, testing and analysis.
